Rend Lake Messabout 2006

Abby and I went to the Rend Lake Messabout, a collection of people who've built, or sailed, or like Jim Michalak's boat designs.

It was a lot of fun: meeting new people, seeing some pretty boats, and actually getting the canoe to move in the direction I wanted it to! Also, Abby discovered she likes to sail as well!!! Here are some pics she took: (click for a larger image)

A 'bent Samhain

After a complete over hall, a new paint job, a new headset, and a very nice new rear wheel (thanks Joe!), she's about ready to hit the streets:

You can see in the photo of the handle-bars and in some of the others that it now has (drop-outs? tie-backs?) to rout the cables with less tubing so shifting and braking can be smoother. I'm considering the name "Samhain" (Celtic fall festival that was replaced by Halloween) because of the black and orange...

Go Llama!

My thanks to Aaron* (Rapier or Stewart?) for making this possible.

*Whose name also begins with a double letter--like our favorite member of the Camelus genus!
