Amazing Grace

We just got back from seeing Amazing Grace. Wow. I find it hard to critique a movie like this because I loved the message so much. I believe it was very well done, but was so swept up in the story it's hard to be objective. From what I know of Wilberforce it was pretty accurate (but then I'm not a Wilberforce historian...). It painted a picture of him as a human being with human shortcomings not just an idealist. It also showed the depth of his passion to confront the evils of the slave trade at a time when pretty much the entirety of British culture was completely sold out to--and dependent upon--the slave trade. It did an excellent job of showing the impact of the gospel on human life without becoming a sappy Christian bait-switch. A definite must-see.

Val and I saw it too, we thought it was great and want to add it to our libarary when it comes to DVD. It will just be plain fun to watch (of course I always sis like period drama, whether biographical or not) but it is a good resource for Xtians to learn about balancing balancing our faith and the world at large.

I loved that movie! I saw it about the same time as I was studying the slave trade in my history courses, so it was interesting to see the connections. :-P

Anyways, how are you guys??
