I thought that Pope Benedict XVI shot down a good point with a very poor illustration by pointing the finger at the shortcomings of others rather than our own.
That said, I find striking irony in this statement in "Turkish PM to meet pope in Ankara" (an article on the English portion of Aljazeera.net):
"Members of the Lashkar-e-Toiba movement in Pakistan called for the pope to be killed unless he recognised that Islam was a religion of peace."
